Deep breathe. I am going to do it. I am going to write a blog. I write everyday. I keep a journal. Edie Lipp, my High School English Teacher, deserves the credit for my journaling. I was lucky enough to take a class called Creativity and Problem Solving my Senior year of High school. It was an amazing class that involved studying creativity and creating a project. I wrote a play called “Beginnings” . Winter term we did not meet daily in class but was given the time instead to work on our projects. The one requirement was we were to keep a journal of our progress and share it with Edie once a week. Honestly, I always filled my journal in the night before I met with her. Being the amazing Teacher she was she was so on to me. One day she said “Janet, just try it. Try a few sentences a night”. Not wanting to disappoint her and loving being part of the class I sat down that night and wrote a few sentences. The next night I wrote more. Pretty soon I looked forward to writing in my tiny notebook every night before bed. I have been writing ever since. 30 years later. Thank you Edie.
